Florida secured a commitment Saturday from highly coveted defensive lineman Kelby Collins to continue the Gators’ summer run of success on recruiting trail.

Collins, at No. 70 in the 247Sports composite rankings and 15th among all defensive lineman, is the highest-rated member of the Gators’ 2023 class. The 6-foot-5, 280-pound Collins is a native of Gardendale, Ala., who chose Florida over SEC heavyweights Alabama and Georgia, among others.

Collins is the 16th four-star recruit among the 18 UF commitments during the current recruiting cycle.

For a 10-3 Gardendale teams that reached Alabama’s Class 6A playoffs, Collins totaled 75 tackles, including 20 for loss (12 sacks), according to MaxPreps. He lined up along the defensive line, but primarily as an interior lineman.
